Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi Saturday termed Prime Minister Imran Khan's visit to Turkey as a great success, saying that trade and economic relations with Istanbul would be enhanced. Qureshi said Turkish President Reccep Tayyip Erdogan will bring many investors from his country on his visit to Pakistan, as he accepted the invitation to visit Pakistan during Prime Minister Imran Khan's recent visit to Ankara.

"The government will make a roadmap with Turkey for the next five years," he said and added the two countries have agreed to enhance economic ties.

He further said the two-day official visit to Turkey remained very successful, during which PM Imran had one-on-one and delegation level discussions with the Turkish leadership.

Qureshi said the one-to-one meeting between the two leaders, which was initially scheduled to last 30 minutes, lasted for two-and-a-half hours.

Talking to there media here, the foreign minister said they held useful meetings with the Turkish leadership. Pakistan and Turkey have always cooperated with each other on regional issues, adding that trade with Istanbul would be enhanced.

Pakistan and Turkey have agreed to organise a trilateral summit with Afghanistan to facilitate the peace process in the war-torn country. Qureshi said a trilateral summit will also be held in Istanbul among Pakistan, Turkey and Afghanistan. Afghan President Ashraf Ghani has also responded positively to attend the summit, he added.

The minister said the Turkish president also expressed his pleasure over the Supreme Court of Pakistan's decision of declaring Pak-Turk Education Foundation - a group backed by Fethullah Gulen - a banned outfit.

The foreign minister told that a high-level cooperative council will also be established between the two countries. The foreign ministers of the two countries will meet in the mid of this year to work out modalities of the council, he added.

Qureshi said Pakistan and Turkey are on the same page on all issues of strategic importance. He said leadership of both the countries will collectively transform their friendship into a more robust partnership.

The foreign minister also expressed satisfaction over his meeting with Turkish counterpart Mevlut Cavusoglu in Ankara. The minister said Pakistan is focusing on peace efforts to bring stability to Afghanistan as per desire of the international community. He said Indian propaganda machine may force Pakistan to divert its attention from Afghanistan, which can be disastrous for peace in the region.

Qureshi also announced that Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi Sheikh Muhammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan is arriving Pakistan on Sunday (today) to enhance strategic relationship, besides they have decided to deposit $3 billion in the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) helping Pakistan to overcome balance of payment crisis.

Furthermore, practical shape would be given to investment and business promotion plans during the visit, said the minister.

He urged the international community to convey the Indian leadership to refrain from negative propaganda. He said Pakistan wants peace, stability, and progress of the region, which is not possible in a hostile environment.

Qureshi said the provocative and negative statements from Indian leadership, being given under domestic political compulsions, can jeopardise the regional peace.

Qureshi said Islamabad's desire for peace should not be taken as weakness and any misadventure against Pakistan will be responded in a befitting manner. He said Pakistan has the capability to respond to any aggressive act within no time.

He said Pakistan is a peace-loving country having no aggressive designs against any one. He said Pakistan wants resolution of all outstanding issues including Kashmir through peaceful means.

Replying to a question, he said Husain Haqqani should come to Pakistan and face the court. Everyone knows about Pakistan's relations with US in the past. Pakistan wishes to have positive relationship with the US, he added.
